You can also choose whether the dealer's partner must play alone when accepting trump during the first round of bidding (Canadian loner).

The option to "go under," allows you to swap three 9s and 10s with the face-down cards from the kitty if you are dealt three or more of these cards. You can also decide if having the suit in hand is a requirement for choosing it as trump (need suit to call it).
